Dear Reader,

This first 3rd Thursday Newsletter of 2025 is an opportunity to share information on upcoming Gathering of Poet events and help direct you to where you can find your own copy of the anthology.

Our two-plus year partnership with Tacoma Public Library continues as we host our Gathering of Poets events each month. We are at Swasey Library, from 6pm to 7:30pm, and we welcome poets and lovers of poetry to join us. Bring a piece to read or just come to listen. It’s an informal free writers’ group that is open to all!

Upcoming Gatherings:

Yes, that’s right. Two Gatherings in April - April is National Poetry Month! We’ll kick off at the beginning of the month and close out on the last day of the month!

You can pick up your copy of Voices of Tacoma at King’s Books, Grit City Books, Elliott Bay Book Company, Orca Books Cooperative, as well as online.

You can also  check it out (literally) at the following libraries:

The artist Mauricio Robalino, who created the cover art and the illustrations for the anthology, is again partnering with #VoicesOfTacoma to create a coloring book! Expected to be ready for purchase in early January, the book will include all of the artwork from the anthology for artists of all ages to color and to make Mauricio’s amazing work their own.

B. Eugene B.s' Artist Statement

Different forms of self are apparent in my art. My visual art is closely tied to my process of writing poetry, and these two forms of expression are considered the same child in my mind; not a closely related phenomenon, but an alternate form of the same creation.
