3rd Thursday Newsletter - Issue: 4

Date: May 20, 2021

Dear Reader,

There are many things I want to share with you - thank you for being a part of my journey!

Updates

  • I have continued to work through all of the generous feedback I received on my manuscript and am excited to be part of the Page Turners Writing Group (a private group created with like-minded participants). Each of us in this group have the opportunity to share and read our work aloud before discussing feedback and hearing ideas about the work. Part feedback session, part support group, part motivating factor to have work ready to share, each of us is working through our current manuscripts; I am working through Entrance to Hell.

  • I am still looking for beta readers. The request here is not line-by-line edits or detailed feedback; what I am looking for are readers who will give me feedback on their impression of the story in its entirety or in part - how it flows. If you are interested in reading it please email me at burlbattersby@gmail.com, or contact me via my website.

  • On Friday, April 16, those of us who joined “Poetry as Protest, as Proclamation, as Prayer” had the opportunity to meet and get to work with newly appointed Tacoma Poet Laureate, Lydia K. Valentine. This event, presented by Creative Colloquy, was part of The Writer’s Workshop Series. It was also cool that one of the participants was Abby E. Murray, Tacoma's 2019-2021 Poet Laureate. I really enjoyed being involved in the discussion and working on writing poetry as a group.

Upcoming Events

I am also looking forward to the upcoming Book Launch for Green River Valley by Robert Lashley. The event, held on Friday, June 11, at 7pm PDT, is available for anyone to join online. Learn more on Facebook.
