Community Healing Circles
There are many different types of Circles, from Peacemaking to Restorative Justice, and each has an impact on attendees in significant, and sometimes life changing, ways.
The Circle type we will be offering is a Community Healing Circle, which is based on Rx Racial Healing Circles© developed by Dr. Gail C. Christopher. This work is built on the work of the W.K. Kellogg Foundation and the American Association of Colleges and Universities (AAC&U).
The facilitator (keeper) of these Circles is Burl Battersby who has been trained in the AAC&U method as well as Peacemaking Circle training with Pamela Taylor, Ph.D.,
He conducts both Community Healing Circles (Racial Healing work) and Community Conversations (Narrative Change work).

In Partnership with Tacoma Public Library, Building Bridges, this Community Healing Circle at Tacoma Night Market is a three-hour Circle offered during the Tacoma Night Market, at the Mothership, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
If you are interested in joining a Circle at the Tacoma Night Market we ask a few things of you.
1. There is no "cost" to participate, but donations to the Tacoma Night Market are greatly appreciated. These can be monetary donations or supplies to help keep the Mothership in operation (see list of needed items)
2. You will need to register in advance. We are limited in the size of the Circle due to space and will be capping attendance at 12 people. Please note, there will be opportunities to register for future Circles at the Night Market.
3. As most Circles are longer (from four hours to multi-day), you will need to read to complete three short assignments before your registration is complete:
-
Register for the Circle
-
Read, and agree to abide by, the "Touchstones"
-
Write a short introduction so others who will be joining the Circle will know a little about you (this is part of the registration process).
